Moderation notification

  1. An edit is made to a page you moderate.
    • PetroWiki generates an email notification.
    • The email is held in queue until that evening.
  2. This insures one email for multiple edits.
  3. At approximately 23:00 (GMT-6) the notification is sent to all page champions that moderate the edited page.
  4. One email notification will be sent every evening.
  5. The email notification will stop if one of the following actions occur:
    • You approve or reject the edit. 
    • The edit has been approved or rejected by at least two other page champions

Moderation task lists

Here are two screen shots of what the moderation task list will look like with and without tasks listed. If a notice is received in email yet there are no tasks listed then other moderators have already completed the moderation tasks.

Active and idle moderation tasks

A. Active pages are topic pages that have been edited and need moderation by you. See the GREEN ARROWS below.

B. Idle pages are pages that have been moderated by you and are pending moderation by a seond moderator. See the BLUE ARROWS below.

Note: You have completed all active tasks if there are no tasks listed within the "Active tasks" section.

A. Edited pages
These are pages that have been edited and are pending your review for approval or rejection.
B. Time since action
This is the time since the action of a co-moderator's actions.
C. Time since edit
This is the time that has lapsed since the intial edit.
D. Moderation status
This is the record of how your co-moderator reviewed the topic page (approved or rejected),
E. Start discussion
This is a place for moderators to discuss the specific topic page and edit. Note: There are no notifications or alerts for discussions.

A. Idle pages
These are pages that you have approved or rejected.
B. Last action date
This is the time that has lapsed since the last action was taken on this moderation.
D. Moderator action
This is the record of how your co-moderator reviewed the topic page (approved or rejected),
E. Discussion
This is a place for moderators to discuss the specific topic page and edit. Note: There are no notifications or alerts for discussions.

Steps of moderation

A. Edited page
Click the topic page title
B. Topic page comparison
The topic page opens with a comparison of the original and the edited version.
C. User name (the editor)
This is the person who made the edit.
D. Approve or Reject
If the edit is acceptable click the Approve link. 
If the edit is not acceptable click the Reject link.
If the edit is in question see below for revising.
E. Edited content
The content added is in blue.
The content removed is in orange.
Note: Sometimes HTML or wikitext coding will be present in the moderation view. Ignore or overlook this coding.

Who are you moderating?

PetroWiki contributors are asked to add to the wiki by:

  • Adding new content.
  • Deleting outdated content.
  • Adding citations to external documents such as OnePetro, books, and articles.
  • Adding images and graphs.
  • Adding internal and external links.
  • Creating new topic pages.
