There are typically four options for pasting text within the PetroWiki editor. Depending on individual security settings each option could display a pop-out window for pasting text.

Keyboard paste

With formatting

  • PC: Ctrl-V
  • MAC: Command-V

Without formatting

  • PC: This option is not available for the keyboard. Paste contents into a Notepad type software first.
  • MAC: Shift + Option + Command and hit V

Main screen paste

When editing a topic page right click within the edit screen and choose “Paste” from the option menu.

Depending on individual security settings pasting into the main edit window may produce a pop out window.
Although not stated the box will accept formatting unless otherwise specified.

To specify “plain text” right click within the pop-up window and choosing paste as plain text.

Plain text (unformatted)

Plain text insert box (Red arrow in fig.1) Plain text removes all formatting.

Word text (formatting)

Paste from a Word type document (Green arrow in fig.1). Keeps all formatting.

Individual security settings

If security settings do not allow access to the clipboard a message will prompt you to alter how you insert text.

Each option will display a pop-out window stating the following:

“Because of your browser security settings, the editor is not able to access your clipboard data directly. You are required to paste it again in this window. Please paste inside the following box using the keyboard (Ctrl/Cmd+V) and hit OK”
