A chemical that helps reduce the valiance state of iron from iron+3 (ferric) to iron +2 (ferrous) in non sour applications. Helps prevent sludges that are triggered by iron and asphaltic crude in combination with salt water or acid. May also help prevent iron precipitation in sweet wells.
